... Or so I think.

I ordered little drawstring organza bags to hold the products for the shop. They're a pale blue color with little white polka dots, and they're pretty darn cute.

See? Cute. And there's a lot of them here, and they weren't that expensive at all. I discovered a website that sells all kinds of bags, shipping materials, ribbons, etc, www.papermart.com. Very good prices, too. ♥ I'll need to remember them for later.... I might add them to the little links section of the blog, namely for my sake. :P

The idea is that I'll place one of my shop magnets and then the product (the keychain, magnet, screen cleaner, whatever) in the bags. Then they'll look like lovely little gifts. ♥ The cuteness will be outrageous.... imo.

(BTW, the icecream cone there is from an early product prototype. He looks a bit rough now because my cat likes to find him and take him on journeys through my home... Silly cat.)

The coolest part about this shipment, though? I had added my "company name" to my account on that website (actually, I did it and forgot I had actually saved it to my account), so the package came addressed to "Hugs Incorporated - Katie Tice." SO EXCITING. xD

I'm closer and closer to having everything in place to get started. Yay!
But now... I need to go finish a paper for class tomorrow. Hah.

Vistaprint = Awesome

So I received my order from vistaprints.com in the mail today: magnets! :O

My plan was to order business cards with mine and the shop's name on it, to include with every order, but then I saw the magnets on the site and thought they would be cooler. I mean, people would be more inclined to keep magnets rather than simple cards, so that way the shop will be remembered! (even though I'm the kind who DOES keep business and promotional cards, lol... I always grab one from every table from artist alley's at conventions and such.) Plus, the magnets were pretty cheap yet still look nice. See for yourself!

(And I got a free pen with the same design on it, too. Neat!)

I'm very excited about these. ♥ I already put one on my fridge and everything.

It's very encouraging, and I definitely want to start working on inventory right away! I'm anxious to get started, lol.

Annnd I still need to fix the layout and the top buttons. I got a bit busy this weekend.... We had a freak snow day here in Georgia, so I had to drop everything and play around in it of course. :) It wasn't a total waste of time, though, since I got to be creative with snowmen and everything.

Well, its time for dinner (some delicious papa johns pizza! Definitely my fave).

Just a little update.

This is mostly a reminder for me for what I need to do. :)

I found this spiffy layout for the blog on a random site. I really like the style and how "crafty" it looks, but its really hard to customize. o_O See the buttons at the top center? The "Home," "About," etc? They're not working buttons yet... so I need to figure out how to make them useful. And I'd like to activate Google Adsense as well, but I can't get the coding to work right to have the banners show up.

I'll get to work on fixing these problems this weekend, probably after class tonight. (or I might be "hiring" my boyfriend to come work his computer magic and fix it himself. :D Haha.)

In the beginning...

Hello all, and welcome to my humble little blog. ^_^ I'm Katie. *WAVES*

So! My first blog post on this interesting little website. Definitely not my first journal on the interwebs, though... :B

I suppose I'll be using this space to type up ideas and stuff related to my new etsy shop and other crafty things. The shop is still under major construction, however, but hopefully it will grow to be something fantastic. :) At least, that's what I'm hoping.

Here's some starter info! :3
The shop! Hugs Incorporated! (hence the title of the blog, of course... lol.)
Tagline! "Who doesn't like hugs?" (...Will probably change later. I just wanted to throw something in. Ha.)

I plan on selling little felt crafts, such as magnets, keychains, ornaments, hairclips, etc. I have plenty of sketches and ideas, and I've received some great feedback from other people on my work, so I have high hopes for the shop. <3 It would be great to sell crochet goods and amigurumi dolls, too; I just need to work on perfecting my original patterns first.

There are a few things I need to do before officially opening the shop though.
- Make a new banner for the shop. The easy-make etsy banners are nice, but I'd like a more creative, more personal one instead. :)
- Make plenty of inventory... of course!
- Take and edit high quality photos for the item pages.

I'd also like to make some sort of business card or thank you card to include in the packages, and possibly to pass out and advertise, should the opportunity arise (like AWA Con, if I ever got an Artist Alley booth or something. :) That would be pretty sa-weet!)

Well, that's enough for now. <3

I'll try to post on a regular basis; of course, I probably won't have too much to say until the shop actually opens. ^^;; But yeah. I'll see you around soon enough. :)
